Clear aligners are an increasingly popular alternative to braces and for many people they are all that is needed to straighten teeth. There are still situations though when braces can be a more effective treatment.

At QVA our dentists have extensive knowledge and experience with fixed braces and will be able to advise you if they are a superior option for your needs.

As a general rule, braces are better for facilitating major movements of many teeth but not as effective as clear aligners for finer tweaking movements. 

We sometimes advise a hybrid therapy of braces in conjunction with aligners to reduce treatment time. For example, some people may greatly benefit from braces for 6 months for major movements. We then take the braces off and start aligner treatment for another 6 months or so to finish a treatment that would have otherwise taken much longer!

If you would like a neater, brighter smile then the answer to whether clear aligners could work for you is generally yes. If you've got teeth that can be straighter, we can help.

There is no minimum age to get clear aligners but we generally don't recommend aligners for under 13 years of age.
In terms of maximum age suitability for clear aligners, there is no limit.

As long as your teeth and gums are healthy you will be able to use clear aligners without complications. We will check your teeth and make sure they are in suitable condition for aligners. This check is included as part of your initial consultation.
